Dr Anne Poelina is the current interim chair for the Martuwarra Fitzroy River Council. She is also the Managing Director of Madjulla Incorporated, is a Nyikina Warrwa Traditional Custodian from the Mardoowarra, Lower Fitzroy River in the Kimberley region of WA. She is a Peter Cullen Fellow and Councillor with the Australian Conservation Foundation and Adjunct Fellow with both Charles Darwin University and Adjunct Senior Research Fellow with Notre Dame University Broome. She is a keen proponent of exploring opportunities for Indigenous people in diverse economies such as culture, science and heritage. She promotes the need to include traditional ecological knowledge and the power of nature to enable greater wellbeing. Dr. Poelina is an advocate for a conservation economy in the Kimberley region based on industries like renewable energy, which will create opportunities for and the empowerment of indigenous communities.
