Dr. Carmen Lawrence, UWA Professor & former Premier of WA

Carmen Lawrence is a former Premier of Western Australia, leader of the Labor Party and Federal Member for Fremantle. Dr. Lawrence currently holds the position of professor of psychology at the University of Western Australia, and has lead and supported research into a multitude of topics including governance, democracy,  sense of place, equality, and the human impacts of climate change. In 2015, she was awarded the ‘Australian Humanist of the Year’ for her consistent humanist approach to a wide range of issues, both as politician and researcher, and for speaking out on matters of concern to humanists including the welfare of indigenous people, equality for women and inequality in education. She supports the concept of a Kimberley Clean Energy Roadmap to transition the region towards a more equitable, cleaner energy future.
